Prince then King of the PridelandsRelations:
Son of Uru and Ahadi, Brother of Mufasa, Mate to Zira, Father of Nuka and Vitani, Adopted father of KovuSummary:
Born smaller, and in Uru’s and Ahadi’s minds, weaker, Taka’s fate was to blend into the background and never be noticed. While the title of Prince enables he will always be in a position of prestige and leisure that no other in the pride will ever have, it also means he is not nearly important enough to make decisions or have an impact. And although most lions would give their mane for life like that, it is never enough for Taka: he can see how his brother is fawned over for his role and how he will be remembered for his role as king, living on even after he’s joined the stars. Curious about this, Taka looks into the lore and legends of the past and becomes fascinated with the idea of living on through stories, to never be forgotten even after your bones have turned to dust. This combined with the lack of attention he receives from his parents and pride means that he becomes obsessed with seeking fame, with being spoken of in stories. And when good and kind acts don’t get him the attention he desires, he resorts to acts of rebellion and negativity: if he can’t be famous he’ll be infamous. Like a Scar on the face of lion kind: ugly but permanently etched into history, he will be remembered for being an ugly, deforming feature in lion lore. However, he quickly learns that certain amount of secrecy and restraint is needed when a rather horrid act, in which he gains a Scar over his eye, causes him to be banished and his brother has to run away and bring him back. But for all the bad deeds he realizes that it will still mean little, for only kings are spoken about in legends and stories. If he is to be remembered, he needs to become king. So he arranges with the king to the East to be engaged to his granddaughter when he’s a teenager, hoping to gain the thrown through his new child bride. But this proves for naught for when the old king dies and he marries Zira, his parents find out and reprimand him for setting up a betroth without their consent. The end result being that he will be bared from ruling and will remain in the lands all his life. So Scar sets his sights on his brother and his throne, old jealousy spurring him on. Not caring for the welfare of the people or the land, nor what the responsibility entails. Only caring about becoming the infamous King Scar.
Thought I should get some of the other canon characters done now so I can just focus on my own characters later. Plus, I have most of the bios done for these guys while the semi-canon and OCs are mostly a WIP.
I don't normally draw Scar all that much and don't expect me to in the future: he's not going to show up much in my stories nor play a pivital role outside of being spoken in the past sense. But seeing as I won't likely be drawing much, I decided to go all out for his bio picture and make him stand out. So while looking around a screenshot website for a good reference, I saw this [link]
and said to myself "I'm f@cking drawing that."
So here is Scar, striking pose and being all sexy and dramatic as well as mischievous, just like he is in the movie.
On a similar note, I wanted my taka/scar to have different backstory then the rest of the tala/scars out there. Everyone always paints scar as the victim, that he was abused and shaped into the monster we see in the movie, likely by his family and or the hyenas. That didn't make sense to me seeing how Mufasa turned out a really good guy and Scar seemed to be using the hyenas more they were using him. So my Taka was given a life of leisure and mostly left on his own (he's rather anti social) by his parents, he wasn't teased, his parents didn't hate or abuse him and the hyenas didn't convince him to turn bad. He just got bored with his title and wanted something more, regardless of the consequences it entailed.
I'll get more into his family and why he turned out the way he did when I go into his parent's story. But that will be later, much later
